Winter Solstice, 冬至 Part II - C-Section

Winter Solstice Part II

So Since Darius Boy is definitely meeting us, we went to proceed with C-section.
The 15 minutes ( Waiting for more anaesthetic from the doctor, since Epidural already turned off) was the most unbearable of all.

So at 2013 (8 13pm), Dr Michelle Lee delivered you out from Mummy's Belly.
Tell u a secret : I actually can feel the doctor slit my belly but it's painless ... Eeeek...

So the nurses and all were working on you, slapping your buttock, shaking you vigorously and inserting tubing to pump out all the stuffs

See those Tags, to ensure that you are the correct baby from my Tummy.

Understand from Daddy, after Nurses slapping your buttocks and shaking you... you refuse or too lazy to CRY, but after slapping hard enough ( Buttocks) you cried and they put the oxygen mask on you AND Darius you stopped CRYING!

See How you can how the Oxygen Mask on your own.. Cool!

After cleaning you up! The nurses brought you to my Arms...
Mummy was really drowsy then, but very very emo when able to see you all well and healthy out from my tummy :)

Winter Solstice, 冬至 Part I - What actually happened on 22 Dec 10, Darius Arrival Date ...

After the final gynae visit on 21 Dec 10, Dr Lee suggested that we should induce birth for a few reasons:
1. Mummy's weight suddenly shot up to 80.5 Kg ( add on 5 kg on the final week)
2. Mummy's Blood pressure was on the border line high
3. Mummy's movement was limited ( due to bad water retention and too big a tummy)
4. Opening is about 1.5 cm already.

Hence we decided that 22 Dec 10 will be D day!

We went around AMK hub grabbing all the necessities and had dinner @ PinSi.

4:22 am , Mummy was in Pain in Bed. Pain lasted a few minutes and came and go in an interval of 9 mins, then interval of pain slowly reduced to 6 mins...
As 1st timers ( of course) we had a discussion of " Is this the so called Contraction?" , Ok then look for the 3 signs (practicing from what we have learnt from ParentCraft)
No... there's no other 2 signs of labour... then the pain interval increased to 3 mins, it's about 6:30 am already. We decided to get ready earlier to make our way down to TMC ( since we are scheduled to walk in @ 8am)

Upon reaching TMC, we directly walked into the delivery suite ( without Taking Breakfast  - Mistake mistake .. ..Mummy should have gobbled down whatever cold drinks, sand which, Soon Kueh.. etc) Breakfast served by TMC was 1x Milo + 2x Toast ( Buay Pai...)

Mummy lay there while all the midwifes and nurses fuss with documentations and procedures, while daddy go grab a quick breakie bite ( Jolli bean, but he could not finish eating). Upon admission, dilation up to 2cm already.

A long time spent at the normal delivery suite

All the tubing attached to Mummy  ( Augmentation, Drip etc) and then Epidural.

The Epidural story : Mummy was having pain @ about 3cm and was projecting if able to endure this kind of pain up to 10 cm , the answer : ABSOLUTELY NOT POSSIBLE !

Hence signed off the Pink form and administered Epidural ( it was not as scary as described by others)

We took a few snap shots of the tags :)

The only hateful this is the BP machine - This was the most irritating interval measurement done for the next 10 hours in labour. This hateful machine actually caused bruises on my right arm.

After spending about 10 hours in the delivery suite finally it's the time to push. We pushed for 1 hours, here are the contractions chart

However, we are not able to PUSH you out, so Dr  suggested that  we go for C-section for a few reasons
1. Baby (You) could be too big
2. Baby (You) in slight distress
3. Mummy have ran out energy

Mummy's epidural dosage ran out and the next 15 min was really a shivering and painful experience.

We went ahead for the c-section to have you delivered.
Note : Let's put the c-section experience in the next post... Mummy need her rest now.

A Clean Belly Button

Darius's belly button is starting to take shape...
Today ( 02.02.2011) your umbilical remains dropped off , as the Chinese saying this is "CAI" - which meant Wealth!

Milestone Belly button achieved... now we are keeping your belly button dried with the powder from Pd. We will be keeping this for you in an Ang Pow and a cute container we bought previously from HK ( during pre-wedding shoot)
